3 Tips to Shop Your Color Season Year-Round
By Megan Haynes ·
Finding your colors "in the wild" can feel like an adventure—sometimes exciting, other times overwhelming or disappointing. While the world of color seasons can open up a new perspective on what works best for you, it's not always easy to find those colors on the racks each season. Here's the advice I share with my color clients to find your season's colors year-round.
An important reminder
Most brands follow a set schedule—Autumn colors arrive in late summer or early fall, Winter colors closer to winter, and so on. So if you're a Light Spring, for example, finding your colors in stores during winter can be a bit tricky or next to impossible. But come spring, your palette will be everywhere.
1. Shop your season, in-store
When it's your color season in stores, I highly recommend setting a date to get out there and see your palette come to life. I also tend to budget a bit more during this time, knowing I'll have better luck finding pieces that truly fit.
2. Shop consignment
Consignment stores can be a great resource. While I go in with low expectations, it's a fun exercise to spot pieces in my color palette. And if I find something that fits both my season and style, it's a win.
3. Colorbook
While stores may not have your colors in person, our shop carries inventory for all seasons year-round. You'll often find great deals, especially on items from out-of-season palettes. For instance, if autumn colors are dominating stores, you may find deeply discounted Summer items online as they make room for new collections.
I hope these tips make shopping in your season easier and help with less overwhelm or disappointment.
